Marathon freakout

My marathon is on Sunday. SUNDAY.

Commence freakout.

Though, I'm pretty sure I've been freaking out since I got sick a couple of weeks ago, and missed my 20-miler because of it. It put me out of commission for about a week and a half, so I also missed my 12-miler (the taper long run) the week after.

And then I went to Vegas this past weekend, and of course, didn't get any running done. Good intentions, but it's Vegas and I got sucked in.

So what does this mean? It means I ran an 18-miler about a month ago, and since then I've run a couple of 10s, and then lots of other shorter runs. GAH! THIS IS NOT ENOUGH! I've been having dreams about backing out of the race, and this morning when I woke up I seriously contemplated dropping down to the half.

I WILL NOT BACK OUT.

Deep down I know I can finish this. Deep down I know I will finish this. Sure, this course is much more difficult than the Disney World course. It has hills. Lots of them. But I think what I need to do is stop worrying about time, and concentrate on just finishing. It's a good possibility i won't PR. That's okay.

(I will be okay, I will be okay, I will be okay, I will be okay)

  3. YOU CAN DO THIS. Just enjoy the marathon and don't let your mind take over. It's really a "mental" thing, marathons. Just go in it with a positive attitude and kick its butt!

  4. Girl, stop stressing you are going to do great! Just remind yourself that you've gone the distance once so you can surely do it again. Line up with a can do attitude and you WILL DO it. Love you girl, sorry I can't be there to cheer my face off for you at Mile 25ish and smack your butt! :)

  5. I've seen lots of training runs that take runners only to 18 miles. I swear, once you run 18...it all feels the same afterwards! Good luck! Keep positive!
