I know I've been behind in blogging. When I started this blog just a few short weeks ago I had it in mind that I would post at least every other day. So I will officially apologize for not keeping up, and for not posting comments on all of your blogs as well. I'm still reading, I just felt super busy this past week, so not a lot of posting occurred. My bad.
Along with the super busy week came a super not-so-busy running week. I ran 12 miles total. Twelve! Ugh. And let's add to that the mounds of cookies and ice cream and cake that I ate as well.
No running + loads of crappy food = lethargic and lazy Christy
So I had a bad week. And all during Friday and Saturday that's all I could think about. It was depressing. And I realized how disgusting my mind can be sometimes. The fact that I can have one bad week, and I instantly dwell on only that bad week? That's disgusting.
I'm posting this entry so that I can start dwelling on the positive. I mean, I did in fact run 12 miles. So, in bullet list form, here are the good things that happened this past week:
- Twelve miles is better than no miles at all. I still ran 12 miles.
- On Wednesday I did a kick-ass, 2-hour lower body workout at the gym. It felt great and left me feeling stronger.
- I received my Runner's World magazine in the mail.
- I'm officially not burned out from running/working out and have a new conviction to kick some major booty during the following weeks of runs and workouts.
- I bought a new hot pink running skirt (seriously, this thing is so girlie it almost makes me want to throw up a little in my mouth, but I look so hot in it, I couldn't pass it up. Plus, I got it on sale at the Nike outlet store!!)
- I also bought my first "expensive" sports bra (wow! supportive!) and I'm sold forever on spending a little more to get a lot more support. And did I mention I also got it on sale (14.95!)?
- I finally ran under a 10-minute mile during my Monday run.
- My birthday is on Saturday the 11th, and I may just celebrate this entire week. I'll be turning the ripe old age of 25. (Does this put me into my "late" 20s?)
So, bad weeks are bound to happen. The key is to not dwell on it. Get over it, and then move on and prove that one bad week isn't going to hinder your overall effort or training.
Your week sounds like mine. I only ran 14 miles... but the sad thing is that 11 of those miles was on Saturday. So needless to say, my run on Saturday SUCKED! I only have two more weeks until the Salt Lake 1/2 marathon and I need to do a LOT better with my weekday runs.
ReplyDelete12 miles is indeed 12 miles! Happy pre-birthday. And no 25 is not "late 20s". I claimed "mid 20s" right up until the day I turned 29. :o)
ReplyDeleteRunning skirt sounds REALLY cute!
