Did I mention that aside from training for the Baltimore Marathon in October, I also
masochistically enthusiastically signed myself up for the Tough Mudder Mid-Atlantic in September?! Oh, I didn't tell you that yet? Hmm. Must've buried that deep in the back of my head. So, yes. Yes I am, in fact, training for a marathon AND a Tough Mudder simultaneously.
Shit.
The running part of the tough mudder ain't no thang. I can run 12 miles (by then) in my sleep. It's this that has me peeing my pants:
 |
| Ummm...HOW in the world will I get over that? |
And this:
 |
| bwahahaha...my biceps don't exist. |
And this:
 |
| Electric shocks...yes, I think this will be my face in the mud. |
I'm so screwed. Like I said above, the running is fine. I'm not worried about the running. But I've never been good about strength training. Like, EVER. So in order to bring up my game, I've been working out with a co-worker at lunch time. He does CrossFit. And he's been showing me the ropes. And I suck at it. And I'm sore. So very sore.
But I kinda feel like a badass. Double workouts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays? Yup. I'm awesome.
I've also been adventuring in New York City lately. I actually have a weekend trip planned to NYC each month for the rest of the year. I'm quite excited about it. The main purpose of this is to run with my friend Megan, who's training for the NYC Marathon in November. This will be her FIRST marathon, and I told her I'd come run a few long runs with her to get her ready and keep her company. Plus, I'll be training for a marathon at the same time, so it kinda just worked out. And it gives me a chance to explore the second most awesome city in United States. ;) I'm still partial to DC. We are much, much cleaner, and our metro system is way easier. Ha.
A few pics from my recent NYC adventures:

| Me and Holly. Being awesome. |

| The Shake Shack is possible the best place in the world to eat a burger. And I don't even like burgers. mmm |

This is what happens when you wait forever for the Subway and a camera is involved.

Marathon training and tough mudder training?!?!? You are a brave, brave soul!!!
ReplyDeleteI was invited to join a Tough Mudder team in October - but I cried a little just looking at the website. I'll stick to Dirty Dashes and Half Marathons thankyouverymuch.
ReplyDeleteBut you go Girlfriend!!!
Christy, thanks so much for visiting Shake Shack in NYC. Hope you had an awesome trip, and our team can't wait to see you again next time you're in the city! (Did you know...we also have a Shack in DC!)
