The 3-, 4-, and 5-milers, while they are awesome and over with quickly, they just don't have the same effect as the long mile run. There's something about pushing your body to go further and further each week -- when you feel yourself get tired, wanting to walk, but you keep pushing, and then before you know it you've run one or two miles longer than the previous week. That's the feeling that I love about distance running. It's such a high! Who needs drugs when you have running?!
Anyway, running is going well. Thank god I've found my groove. Here's how this week's run are shaping up:
- Monday: 3 miles on the treadmill
- Tuesday: 5 miles at Burke Lake
- Wednesday: 3 miles on the C&O
- Thursday: 3 x 800m speed session
- Friday: REST
- Saturday: REST
- Sunday: 9 miles (haven't decided where yet...maybe the C&O or W&OD.)
Rantings unrelated to running:
I'm loving that summer has arrived! This 90 degree weather that DC is supposed to get this week is going to be awesome. I don't think I've been in the 90s since summer 2010. Nineties!! *jumping for joy* I don't think my body will know how to react.
I spent the weekend in Dewey Beach, Delaware with Morgan and Elise. Dewey Beach is about 3 hours east of DC, and the drive was so relaxing. It's nice to drive and not be in traffic. We laid in the sun and played in the ocean. And it was magnificent.

Letting the water hit our sunburned backsides. Ha...
Playing!
Grabbing a drink before we head home
I have lots of concerts booked for this summer in DC. that's one of the best things I love about being here -- if I feel like going to a concert any night of the week, DC is bound to have someone awesome playing a show (though, it also helps that I love Indie music). Here's the line-up of shows I've already purchased tickets for:
- Walk the Moon at Black Cat on June 22 (THIS FRIDAY!!!)
- Bombay Bicycle Club at the 9:30 Club on August 1
- Florence + the Machine at the Merriweather on September 19
- Dispatch at I.M.P on October 11 (happy half birthday to me)
