Excuses, excuses

I've put in a grand total of 6 running miles this week. Seriously. Obviously, I'm pretty hard-core.

All joking aside, I'm in a total slump right now, and can't seem to get myself out of it. I've tried waking up earlier, but then I just hit the snooze button and tell myself I have plenty of time to run later in the day.

Then Later rolls around and I tell myself, "Okay, you'll go run after dinner. Plenty of time."

The After Dinner arrives and I tell myself, "I'm just too full to run right now. I need to digest for at least 2 hours."

Needless to say, I have a library full of excuses in my head. Now it's Saturday night at 11 p.m., my motivation is gone, and we all know I don't do any running on Sunday, sooooo...damn. I'll have to pick back up on Monday.

Since moving to Florida from Utah two months ago, I've realized how much I really need to find a running partner. I need someone to hold me accountable for my runs. Someone that would literally kick my ass if I didn't show up for a run. I miss that.

Yesterday I contacted a local running group here in St. Augustine. They have organized runs on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings. They have runners of all paces (even slow ones like me), and you have a choice of either running 3, 5, or 7 miles. Pretty freaking sweet, if you ask me. Now, I know I probably don't have any local readers on my blog yet, but just in case, you can contact the Ancient City Road Runners here. And maybe we can be running partners.

  1. Hopefully this running group is just what you need to get out there. Good luck!

  2. Yeah, running partners help a lot! Sadly I don't really have a regular one right now. The long runs can get kind of lonely when you get used to having someone by your side.
