I've jumped onto the Shave Your 5K challenge, presented by Half-Fast. The cool thing about this 5K challenge is that you can participate in it anywhere in the United States. Heck! Anywhere in the entire world, for that matter! Basically, the rules are as follows:
1. Run a 5K sometime at the beginning of 2009. This time becomes what Half-Fast deems as a "Stubble Time".
2. Run a 5K sometime towards the end of the 2009. This becomes what Half-Fast deems as a "Smooth Time".
3. That's it.
The challenge is to become faster. The person who takes the largest chunk of time off of his/her Stubble Time wins. The prize? A pretty sweet SY5K t-shirt. That's the best part about all of these races, right? The t-shirt? I know it's mine. I seriously go berserk if the race doesn't offer shirts. How else am I supposed to prove that I actually ran a race?!
I'll be using my Matanzas 5K race result (30:31) as my "Stubble Time". Hopefully I can kick some a$$ and make it back down to 26:00 (my 5K PR).
So, go click here to read all the gory details about how to sign up. And guess what else? It's FREE.
The half marathons I keep signing up for and requesting a size Small T-shirt seem to run out of Smalls before I can make it to the expo. This is SO annoying. Another thing I've decided I really like is when races give out tote bags :)
