A two week running sabbatical

I haven't run in two weeks.

I didn't fully get over my flu until about a week after the Wasatch Back. Lesson learned: I'll never, ever run again while I'm THAT sick. I think it wore my body down and it made the recovery process longer than normal.

And this past week I spent camping (yes, camping) with the young women of my church at a week-long youth camp in central Florida. Our days were so busy I didn't find any time to run. Plus, who wants to run when you're going to sweat all day in your running stink in Florida humidity? Not I.

It was a welcome break and now I'm ready to step right back into training for another race. The race I have chosen is........

The Top of Utah Half Marathon on August 29. The husband and I will be back in Utah visiting family during his two-week semester break. So I figured, why not throw in a race while I'm there? Y'all know I've been itching for a half marathon and I've always wanted to run the Top of Utah. So the timing worked out perfectly.

Anyway, here's a look into what us crazy Mormons are up to at a week-long girls camp. The bugs were gross, the humidity was awful, but I love being a leader to those young girls. They are awesome.

  2. Hooray for another race! You are going to KILL it! I need to find me a race to keep me going through the summer. Even if it's just a 5K. I don't want to lose my endurance over the summer. Why does it have to be so hard to run when it's hot??

  3. Yeah, running when you are sick makes the recovery process longer :-/ Though I've never run as much as you did all at once.

Sometimes I thinking taking a little time off from running is the best way to recharge! At this point you still had SIX MONTHS until your marathon.
