I had an ambitious goal during my cruise to still maintain my training schedule. It's ambitious only because I never run on vacation. I don't know what it is, but for me running is so routine, and vacation is so not routine. All my good habits usually die quickly the second a vacation starts.
But I will say this: I may not have hit every single run last week, but I at least ran 3 out of the 5 scheduled running days. Yay for me. Really, it's a big deal for me. I actually ran on vacation. Sure, they were only 3, 4, and 5-milers, but I'd like to think of them as bigger than that. Hell, 1/2 mile on vacation would've been a big deal to me.
If you look really closely, you can see the ocean through the window. It almost made me feel like I was running super-fast on water, like Dash on the Incredibles (I love that show).
Have any of you ever run on a cruise ship before? Talk about hard to keep your balance. It's really quite hilarious, actually. I'd be in mid-stride, the boat would rock one way or another, subsequently causing my foot to strike somewhere I wasn't expecting. There were a few times I actually had to grab the side bars to steady myself. Quite the sight! Maybe that is what drunk running feels like? I've never drunk-run before, so you'll have to let me know. Come to think of it, I've never been drunk before, so you'll also have to let me know what that feels like.
Aside from the extremely cheesy smile and wave, how about them lights?! I didn't know gyms needed Vegas lights. Only on the Fun Ships, I suppose.
I was feeling a little under the weather the last couple of days of my cruise and it carried into this week. I haven't been running to help my body get some much needed rest, but I finally cranked out 7 miles today and it felt fantastic.
A non-running cruise-related post will be coming shortly, so prepare yourselves for that. Lots of gambling, dancing, laying out in the sun, eating, exploring islands, you know the usual stuff people do on a cruise. I can't wait to tell y'all about it because I had such a blast! Stay tuned.
woo hoo! Good job...missed you in bloggy land.
ReplyDeleteI tried running on my cruise last May, I did the outdoor track though and had a helluva time. I didn't even make it one full mile! Good job girly!!!
ReplyDeleteYou make me nervous. I leave this SUnday for a cruise... and I want to run miles... long miles. Is ti really that tough? Did you try running on deck?
ReplyDeleteI love that you were running on the ship! I haven't known what to do this week, inbetween races... so I haven't run at all. We'll see what happens on Saturday!
ReplyDeleteI can't say that I've ever run on a boat before, but if I DO ever take a cruise, you bet I'll try it!
ReplyDeleteIn December we went on a cruise that had a little track on the upper deck. I went up there since every machine on the ship was full. Well, running outside on top of a ship with wind and choppy waves....suuuuuccckkkked.
ReplyDeleteHa I have a great image of a drunk person running, for a second I thought that picture was from my old gym....but it didnt overlook the ocean.
ReplyDeleteNever thought about running on a cruise and the movement. I don't think I could do it. I fell off a treadmill once. Yes I did! love the pics though!
ReplyDeleteLove this! Running on a boat sounds pretty fun...and I'd probably feel like Dash too. :) Great job for keeping it up!
ReplyDeleteI got motion sick just thinking about it. Way to get it done!
ReplyDeleteUh, my suitcase is still in my car. Not kidding. Since Sunday!
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way on vacation - Good intentions on running but never hit my goals. Taken a week off does the body more good then harm.
ReplyDeleteYou made me think about my Navy days and running on the ship - 20 laps around the flight deck was a mile.
What!? You haven't lived until you've drunk run! But, from the sounds of it, it does pretty much seem like it is very similar to running on a boat.
ReplyDeleteNice job cranking out the miles! Running on vacation is always the best. It is what makes you hardcore!
