I love the weekend.
Reason Numero Uno
Husband is in school all day, 8 to 5, Monday through Friday. Then he studies, studies, studies, and I don't really get to see him/spend time with him. AT ALL. Weekends provide some much needed companionship with spouse time. All is well.
Reason Numero Dos
Because of Reason stated above, I don't do much housework on the weekends. And I don't care. My house gets messy and I don't care...until Sunday night.
Reaosn Numero Tres
Long runs. I've been loving my long runs lately. Today I cranked out 8 miles. To most of you, maybe 8 miles in an "easy" run. Not for me, my friends. Eight miles is a big deal.
I always approach my long runs with a bit of apprehension. See, Saturday morning rolls around I start to freak out a bit. Thoughts start running through my mind like, "Did I over-run this week?" "Can I handle my long run?" "What if it's a disappointing run?" "What if I just can't make it to the end?" yada, yada, yada.
I'm a bit of a worrier and pessimist. Two traits I've tried to eliminate in my life, and have yet to do so. Anyway, I usually don't run until the afternoon or nighttime, so I have all day to sit and stew over how I'm going to get through my long run.
Inevitably, I always make it through my long run, and I usually do it better than expected. Like today. Today was great. The eight miles felt effortless. Even with a bleeding toe (I thought I felt something not right during my run).
So this post was pretty pointless. But I love the weekends, and I love my long runs, bleeding toe included.
Side note: Runners are funny. Take the bleeding toe thing, for example. How much pain do we inflict upon ourselves, knowingly and unknowingly, just so that we can run?
I'm the same way with long runs. Even if I've run that distance before, I still doubt a little.
ReplyDeleteHey fun! I ran 8 miles on Saturday too and I have a blistered up toe (thankfully no bleeding). Also... my house never gets cleaned on the weekends for the exact same reason.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I do that too with the long runs. Glad to know I'm not the only one.
