If ya ain't first, you're last!

So maybe y'all will think this is funny, too, or not, but I just thought I'd share.

The other day I was talking to my dad about the marathon, and he goes, "Well, that's great, did you win?"

HAHAHAHAHA! I love parents for this very reason. They always think the best of you, no matter what you're doing. It was kinda sweet, but totally funny at the same time. "No Dad. I came in 6,000th place."

To which he responds, "6,000th place?! Did you come in last or something?!"

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Dad!

In giveaway news, Tricia at Endurance Isn't Only Physical, is hosting an iFitness belt giveaway. It ends tonight, so you'll want to hurry over there and enter to win!

  1. SO funny. The other day my coworkers were asking me about running and they asked if I had won the Chicago Marathon. I said, "No actually, the defending Olympic Champ won. But thanks for the vote of confidence." They were like, "Oh well do you EVER win?" Ha. Some people...

  2. I laughed out loud at that one. I am a teacher and my students always ask me that. I have educated them on age groups and how you look at those. I have told them there is only one first place but everyone else is NOT a loser!

  3. Parents... gotta love em!

When my grandma found out I was running she said "oooo that's great hobby for her to get rid of all that nervous energy she has!" LOL!

  4. That's pretty cute. I think my parents are surprised that I am still running. "You're still running? Slow down...you don't want to hurt yourself." Funny thing is that I'm not all that fast! Very sweet they're concerned, though.

  5. I can't tell you how many times I've had this conversation with people. Like the race was some sort of 5th grade track and field day.

  6. Too funny. But you know... coming in very last isn't all that bad. My dad did a triathalon about 12 years ago and he came in last. DEAD.LAST. Like, they were closing up for the day when he crossed the finish line. But I think it's awesome that he finished it. More than awesome, actually.
But someone always has to come in last, right?

  7. That's too cute. It's funny how non runners just don't understand stuff like how many miles a marathon is or whatnot. I always get the question "How far is your marathon again?"

  8. hehe. I always hate the question.. "oh, you run marathons huh? Have you ran boston?" Yeahhhh, it isn't as easy as that...

  9. Maybe my fans and supporters just don't run in the same groups as yours. I never get anyone suggesting that I might have won. Maybe I just look slow...
