Life has been a little busy.
Okay, I take that back. Life hasn't been a little busy. It's been EXTREMELY busy. Busy beyond belief. Between work, studying, running, working out, running errands, I've had no time to blog. It makes me more than a little sad. The thing is, I really need to buckle down and study for my upcoming teaching certification tests. And I mean I REALLY need to buckle down. And by "buckle down" I mean I need to be studying at least 2 hours a night during the week, and at least 6 hours a day on Saturday and Sunday. I kid you not. It's crunch time, folks, and because of my seriously awesome procrastination skills, it's time to study.
The thing is, I'm a blogger. I blog because I love connecting with people who share my same interests, and because it's sort of a therapeutic exercise for me. The writing, I mean. But then I get sucked in. I not only write a blog, but I READ blogs. Lots of them. More than I'd like to admit to anyone. You can see where this is going, right? Writing blogs + reading blogs = time eater.
So I've made a plan. I don't like it, but until those tests are done, I have to stick to it. I'm limiting my blogging to once per week. GAH. How is this possible?! I have no idea because your blogs will be calling to me. Slowly, you're witty words, funny jokes, sarcastic comments, and overall likability, will be luring me to the computer every day. But I MUST RESIST! At least until the end of March. So there you have it. I am giving myself a few hours on Sunday to blog/read blogs/leave you comments. I won't forget you. But you may not see a comment from me until days after you've written a post.
So I'm beggin' you. Please don't leave me! (I sound like a desperate ex-girlfriend, don't I?) I love all of my new readers, and I love your comments. I do, I really do. So I promise an entertaining post every Sunday. It will have all the good running gossip, race reports, and training woes that I usually have, just crammed into one giant post.
Okay, now that I've basically gotten down on my knees to beg....
I'm still in training for the Gate River Run 15K. It's been going pretty well. I've made it a goal of mine to run faster than normal, and I've done that. Instead of running at a 10:00 pace, I've been running at about a 9:40-9:45 pace. I figured, I'm running that fast during races, so why not pick up my pace during training runs? I've been doing speed work once per week ( I love intervals!!!), and I can already tell that they've made a difference.
I don't know about you, but I love speed work. L O V E, love it. I feel speedy, powerful, and freaking awesome. On Tuesday, during my 8 X 400m repeats, I seriously felt like Kara Goucher for each of those 1/4 miles. Hilarious, right? But speed work makes me feel, well, fast! (duh, Christy, that's why they're called "speed" intervals).
I've got an 8-mile long run planned this Saturday and I can't wait. I used to dread my long runs. Well, not dread, but worry. I used to worry about my long runs. But ever since the marathon, it's like I know I can do that distance, no problem. I love my long runs! See what kind of confidence a marathon can instill in you? I love it. (still basking in the afterglow...)
And other thing: I got contacts! For the very first time in my life...it took me 20 minutes to put them in. Please tell me it gets better...
Totally understand the need to blog and the need to balance your time. I will be waiting and still check in don't worry! Just be to stop by my blog every once in awhile. I still want to chat more about your marathon. So inspiring!! I have a relay in April and half in June...looking for a fall marathon?? Take care...and go study!
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda busy right now myself with work stuff so I haven't read your entire post (but I will), but I'll say now that I ain't going nowhere. So you'll at least have one follower :D
ReplyDeleteDesperate ex-girlfriend? lol!
You say that like I regularly blog at all. Trust me, I'll still be here when you get over having a life.
ReplyDeleteAnd good luck with those tests and breaking procrastination. Maybe tomorrow I'll sto procrastinating.
Good luck on your certification exam! we'll wait for you, just don't take too long! :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is a time sucker that is for sure. Good luck on your exams! We won't leave you. Looking forward to those Sunday posts.
ReplyDeleteAfter much debating I've decided I too shall stick around... I mean I've invested so much. LOL! :) J/K
ReplyDeleteGirl get your study on and come back in full force! See you in 3 weeks at Donna!!!
Have a great run tomorrow!
P.S. I have speedwork at the track but I love pace workout's. Both are considering speed work but dang it all I just can't cut it at the track.
Good luck with all your studying! I think it's a great idea to limit the blog time -- it can take over! :) I have my long run today (7 miles -- farthest I've ever gone before) and reading your post made me feel better about it! And yes -- contacts get much better!!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand about the time crunch that life holds on you. I've been bitching on my blog for the last month about my job and how busy I've been. Go get your study on and rock that test girl. We aren't going anywhere!
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your 8 miler!
I'm a brand new reader but I will definitely stick around! I know how much time blogging can eat (I'm a student too) and there are definitely times when I just need to STEP AWAY from it all! That's A LOT of studying you have to do, holy moly!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love speedwork too! Running intervals is just SO FUN!
Good luck with all your studying :)
Good luck with that run this weekend.
ReplyDeleteUgg, you WILL get used to the contacts. I totally tore my eyes up the first time I put mine in. Now, I can put them in while 3/4 asleep at 4:30 before a run! :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I hear you on the time. work has been NUTS, but I've still been trying to keep up with everything. Something is going to break soon - so if you hear of a guy going postal in AZ and me stopping my updates for a while, you'll be able to read through the lines.
I <3 speedwork too. Bring it on!
I hear ya 100%. I've definitely been more absent from the blog world than I'd like so far this year. I'm hoping things will calm down eventually at work and I'll get back to reading EVERY post and getting my comments in.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the studying!
Yep, such a time eater, but I love it too.
ReplyDeleteSpeed work - Love it also.
ReplyDeleteLong runs - Confidence booster.
Tempo Runs - Don't look forward to these, but always feel better after.
I won't be going anywhere...but I have become a once a weeker as well so I truly understand. Thanks for the long post and updates. About contacts I have had mine for 12 years now..yeah that makes me feel really old, but I remember the pain...be patient and just know that they are well worth it! Smiles!
ReplyDeleteAww. I just found your blog and I LOVE it! Luckily I have the archives to keep me entertained for the next month or two when you are posting weekly ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm right there witcha on the speed work. As for time eaters...you'll find your balance...
